The ever-popular and multi-award-winning Toyota Yaris has reached 10 million sales, joining the ranks of perennial stalwarts Corolla, Camry, RAV4, Hilux and Land Cruiser.
The current generation Yaris has proven its ability to adapt to customer needs, with the addition of the widely acclaimed GR Yaris in 2020 and the urban crossover Yaris Cross in 2021.
In 2022, Yaris sales in Europe were 185,781, a third of its total sales. By the end of February 2023, sales of the Yaris family in Europe exceeded 5 million.
In Europe, Yaris has been produced by Toyota Motor Manufacturing France since 2001, and Yaris Cross since 2021. In the same year, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic in Kolin began production of the Yaris to meet the growing demand for the model. Cumulative production of the Yaris family in Europe will reach 4.6 million by the end of 2022.
In 1999, production of Yaris started in Japan and today its production bases are in 10 countries: Japan, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, France and Czech Republic. It is truly a global model of Toyota, with production sites around the world.
The Yaris is the first Toyota model to win the coveted Car of the Year award in 2000. Since then, each subsequent generation of the Yaris has made the Car of the Year list, and in 2021, the fourth-generation Yaris won the second Car of the Year title.
From its debut to the launch of the current generation, the Yaris was marketed as the Toyota Vitz. The cumulative sales milestone of 10 million includes the Yaris, Vitz, Yaris Cross and GR Yaris names.
