News Landing Image TOYOTA CROWN
The origin of Crown is related to the founding era of Toyota. Kiichiro Toyoda decided to follow the challenge of entering the automobile business based on the philosophy of enriching the lives of the Japanese people by creating a passenger car for the masses. Its production began in January 1952. It was Kiichiro who named the car "Crown", whose chief engineer was Kenya Nakamura. He put all his energy into the development of the car. Despite great opposition, he used the latest technologies and did everything he thought was right.

In 1957, Crown took part in the Australian, international rally for the first time.

In 1967, Kameo Uchiyamada found that lighter colors attracted more attention and decided to make the Crown available in white. White Crown enjoyed great popularity in Japan for the next two decades

Despite the new image, sales of the fourth-generation car were not successful, which was largely due to quality. It turned out to be a lesson that Crown must first meet the needs of the customer. From that moment on, engineers tried to balance innovation and customer expectations. This production approach has paid off in the seventh and eighth generations.

In the 1980s, Crown was undeniably successful, but the ninth generation is associated with difficult times. To start over, Toyota repositioned the Crown.

In 1989, Toyota introduced the Lexus LS in Japan as the Toyota Celsior. This change was a major turning point in Crown's history.

In 1991, as a result of the recession, the demand for luxury cars decreased. Declining sales volumes have led to suspicions that the model may be coming to an end. A new sense of crisis led to the development of the 12th generation model.

Mitsuhisa Kato, who was in charge of Crown's development at the time, stated that he did not want Crown's existence to end during his tenure. It re-developed the engine from scratch to achieve world-class handling efficiency. Despite the difficulties caused by the global crisis of 2008, the transformation of Crown was still felt.

Mitsuhisa Kato tried to encourage the team by calling for a new design that attracts people at first sight, by changing the car's styling, updating the car's platform and improving the driving system, the 14th and 15th generation Crown was created.

The basis for the creation of the 16th generation Crown was the words spoken by Akio Toyoda, to give up for the 15th generation redesign. Akio Toyoda wanted to go back to the beginnings of the Crown and use it to create a new sedan. As a result, four different models were obtained.

A crossover, which is the result of the fusion of a sedan and an SUV. Driving the engine based on a new hybrid system makes it a sedan unlike any other.

A creative sports car that is easy to drive and offers a flexible driving experience.

A sedan designed to exude quality and comfort as well as formality.

The fourth Crown as a highly functional SUV in which the rear seats fold flat to create a completely flat cargo area, making it a cross between a wagon and an SUV.

Creating these four models at once was fraught with difficulties and would have been unthinkable without Toyota's internal company and the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA). TNGA-based platforms have improved styling and handling quality.

Annual sales of Crown vehicles are expected to reach 200,000 units. It will be presented, not only in Japan, but globally.
